If you missed Mr.Brannon's introduction of our "Animal of the Future" project, here is some of the items we discussed in class. If you have any questions, please let me know cbrannon@hoover.k12.al.us

AOTF (Animal of the Future) Project Page
The Bumpus version of the international "the future is wild" started last year and we continue to make this project better every year! We have designed the project to be more open ended and inquiry based. The project and visual aide method is up to the student (with teacher approval). The project is all about animal biodiversity, interactions, habitats, adaptations and how they may affect animals of the future. The type of environment/habitat that the student's animal lives in is totally up to the student's imagination and animal limitations.

You are only limited to your imagination and these three simple rules:
1. Everything must be explainable. No technology on animals (i.e. chainsaw arms, lazer eyes, etc.)
2. No animals live totally alone-everything is connected to another living being in some way
3. your animal can not live everywhere in the world!

Visual Aide:
Your visual aide should show everything on the rubric checklist. You may use any sort of visual aide that you like. Examples: Tri-fold board, poster, powerpoint, etc. If you choose to use technology in anyway, plan for difficulties in transferring your project to school. If possible, print out your project, back it up on disk or flash drive or google docs is also a great way to back up your work and have it for school!

The Scientific name of your animal must be a combination of real animals. Example: If my animal was part Black Spider Monkey (Ateles paniscus) and part Andean Hairy Armadillo (Chaetophractus nationi) , then the scientific name of my animal could be :AtelesChaetophractus paniscusnationi or a variation of the two names put together.
